Education Coordinator – WGVU Public Media. WGVU is seeking a passionate educator to lead the education programs at WGVU, including PBS LearningMedia, Cool Teacher Program, Great American Read Contest, and more. Classroom experience and an understanding of digital classroom technology are required. Experience in Education Outreach/Community Engagement is preferred, along with a strong affinity for PBS & NPR. Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Minimum of 3 Years Classroom Teaching Experience
  • Understanding of Digital Classroom Technology

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Education Outreach/Community Engagement Experience
  • State of Michigan Teacher Certificate

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between PBS Education/PBS KIDS and WGVU – regularly communicate new information with appropriate WGVU staff and/or departments
  • Coordinate all WGVU Education programs with Schools, Early Childhood Educators, and Education Partners
  • Point of Contact for local PBS LearningMedia, PBS Education, PBS KIDS, and WGVU Early Childhood and K-12 education programs and resources
  • Build and Maintain WGVU’s database of Educators
  • Conduct PBS LearningMedia and PBS Education/PBS KIDS resources training at local schools, college classrooms, workshops and conferences
  • Coordinate WGVU Cool Teacher Program
  • Coordinate WGVU KIDS’ Contests
  • Plan and coordinate annual WGVU Education Celebration
  • Coordinate and implement national PBS Education/PBS KIDS programs and initiatives such as Digital Innovators and Early Learning Champions. Serve as Station Liaison
  • Coordinate all WGVU Education community events
  • Coordinate the creation of WGVU Education marketing materials and their content, including broadcast spots
  • Create education content for WGVU social media platforms and webpages in coordination with Digital team
  • Maintain WGVU Education Twitter account
  • Support broadcast area, community-based Early Childhood Education, K-12 Education, and Parent Engagement initiatives, programs and networks
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships, opportunities, and projects around WGVU Education and PBS Education/PBS KIDS initiatives, programs and resources
  • Maintain understanding of current, effective educational pedagogies and best practices as well as current, general knowledge of curriculum Standards
  • Maintain current understanding of local, state, and national Early Childhood Education and K-12 Education issues and policy
  • Maintain current knowledge of Ed Tech trends, apps, platforms, and tools
  • Support curriculum development of WGVU Local Productions in meeting State of Michigan Standards for WGVU LearningMedia
  • Support WGVU Engage Committee with various community projects
  • Assist with budget preparations, spreadsheets, and other financial and accounting preparations, processing, and procedures as requested for Education Department budget
  • Support Grants, Business Development, Major Gifts, and Development Coordinators in fundraising and sponsorship development for WGVU Education Programs
  • Coordinate and maintain reports including: WGVU LearningMedia User Reports, Education webpage utilization reports, social media analytics reports, and other education reports as needed for NPR, PBS, and CPB
  • Must be willing to be on air during AM, FM, TV Membership Drives
  • Must be organized and able to work independently
  • Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed
  • Some travel may be required
  • Process all delegated assignments efficiently and effectively
  • Provide various levels of support to other WGVU staff and departments, as needed
  • All positions at WGVU Public Media are considered essential personnel as it pertains to University Closings
  • Other duties as assigned
