Position:  Assistant/Associate Professor in the Physician Assistant Studies Department.  This is a full-time 12-Month tenure track faculty position located at the Traverse City site.

 

Qualifications:  The requirements for this position include:

  • Minimum of master’s degree; a doctoral degree is preferred
  • Current national certification as a physician assistant or physician
  • Current licensure as a PA or physician
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience, rural health preferred
  • Established history of teaching (minimum of 3-5 years)
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fiscal and organizational experience
  • Willingness to participate in an interprofessional environment.

Responsibilities:  This full-time tenure track faculty position will work together with the other members of the Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) faculty, especially those in Traverse City, to advance the education of PAS students.  Didactic classroom teaching, laboratory and small group teaching will be required. Additional responsibilities include scholarly and service activities within the department, College, University, PA profession, and the northern Michigan community.

 

Salary:   Commensurate with experience and degree. 

 

Department: The Physician Assistant Studies program is a 28-month, graduate level program within the College of Health Professions with currently 10.25 FTE faculty positions. The department has two sites, Grand Rapids and Traverse City. The Grand Rapids (GR) location is located on the medical mile while the Traverse City (TC) campus is located at the University Center of the Northwestern Michigan College, on Boardman Lake in TC. The TC campus welcomes 12 students per annual cohort, has 5 classrooms, 3 offices and access to the GVSU Regional Center.
