Summary: The Occupational Safety and Health Department within Grand Valley State University’s Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing invites applications for an Affiliate Faculty position; at GVSU, an Affiliate Faculty position is a full-time teaching position that is renewable every one to three years. This position will support the Occupational Safety and Health Management (OSHM) program with emphasis on internship development and student internship

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in OSH or closely related discipline
  • At least five years of experience working in industry with responsibilities for occupational safety and health.
  • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional or equivalent of the ability to achieve certification within one year.
  • The ability to support OSHM internships through industry interaction and student supervision as well as development and supervision of laboratory activities.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • A Master’s degree
  • An ability to participate in and capitalize upon existing collaborations with our West Michigan industrial partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach courses in the OSHM major

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

  • Providing instruction for courses in the OSHM major as well as course development.
  • Responsible for the OSHM internship program as well as the OSHM laboratory.
  • Development and supervision of laboratory activities
  • Support industrial collaborations and programs to meet the needs of industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
