Director of Football Operations - (Athletics)

Summary: Report directly to Head Football Coach on all Team Operations which include: Manage Team Roster (experience with TeamWorks preferred), work with campus partners in housing, admissions, food service, financial aid, etc. for team operations, plan and coordinate all team travel, and work with recruiting coordinator to handle all recruiting logistics.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year of professional athletics or event management experience
  • Commitment to inclusion and equity in all aspects of operations
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Able to multi-task, work independently and self-motivate
  • Available to work flexible shifts, evenings, and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • CPR / AED / First Aid Certified
  • Experience in planning and running events as the main contact
  • Past work experience with college students
  • Demonstrated experience with problem-solving and conflict management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

  • Football Operations
    • Report directly to Head Football Coach on all Team Operations which include:
      • Manage Team Roster (experience with TeamWorks preferred)
      • Work with campus partners in housing, admissions, food service, financial aid, etc. for team operations
      • Plan and coordinate all team travel
      • Work with recruiting coordinator to handle all recruiting logistics
      • Partner with GVSU Athletic Compliance staff for all NCAA compliance requirements
      • Work with Head Coach on Operations Budget and Scholarships
      • Coordinate Alumni and Donor events
      • Assist staff with academic support logistics (study tables, class checks, etc.)
  • Game / Event Operations
    • Serve as lead event manager for all home Indoor and Outdoor Track / Field meets
      • Supervise all Game Ops Staff through meet setup and event support
      • Coordinate setup and tear down logistics
      • Provide operational support on meet days
      • Help enforce GVSU, ICA, and facility policies and procedures
    • Visiting Team host for Football game days
    • Setup and tear down for all Hosford Center activities on Football game days
    • Annual maintenance of departmental trophies and trophy cases
    • Order and update Championship banners/banner updates at all athletic facilities
    • Serve as point of contact for all equipment and shipping for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships
    • Occasional coverage of home events in sports other than Track & Field

Salary:  $28,000 annual with limited benefits
