Summary: Temporary position, 12-month Adjunct AP for 15 hours per week to serve as the Vivarium Laboratory Manager.
Required Qualifications and Education: Have experience working in a laboratory environment or experience working with laboratory animals.

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Supervise the University's clean vivarium facility (3100sf) including, 12 Flex Rooms, 1 Procedure Room, 1 Clean Cage, Food and Bedding Prep Room, 1 Cage Wash Room, 1 Food and bedding bulk storage.
Provide oversite of Grand Valley State University's dirty vivarium facility (400sf), 1 Flex Room, 1 Prep Area. General Cleaning, emptying and washing all mouse and rat cages.
Responsible for cleaning all shared spaces. Be available to Faculty and Students for animal care questions and standard operating procedure guidance.
Responsible for vivarium office support including, filing all room sheets and cage card usage, and computer work. Helping to keep track of animal usage in the facilities. Maintenance and development of standard operating procedures for the vivarium space. Supervise student employees who help with maintenance, cleaning, and coordinating supplies in the facility (1-2 students 15 hours a week). Purchase and track supplies for shared rooms, including general animal diet, personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies. Work with Laboratory Director to Manage yearly budget. Comply with all regulatory guidelines and occupational health and safety programs following university policies and procedures. Prepare assigned areas for inspections and site visits. Consult with researchers regarding day-to-day operations, facility access, and experimental needs. Oversee disposition of animals.
Note Vivarium Supervisor is not responsible for daily health checks and cage change over.
