Summary:  The Occupational Safety and Health Department within Grand Valley State University’s Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing invites applications for an affiliate faculty position. This position will support the Professional Science Master's programs with an emphasis on teaching of courses within the program, internship development, and student internship supervision. The start date is fall of 2023.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Evidence of administrative experience
  • Ability and commitment to teach an interdisciplinary course on Professional Science Practice and Ethics in Professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as a key member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • A strong understanding of the Professional Science Master’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level, with an emphasis on professional skills development
  • Academic and/or industrial experience in fields or related fields of the five PSM programs.
  • Experience working with international students
  • Demonstrated interactions with local employers
  • Education in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Data Science and Analytics, Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, or other STEM-related fields.

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

  • Provide instruction in the areas of professional science practice, preparation for internship, soft skills development, professional communication, and ethics.
  • Facilitate clear and timely communication and cooperation between the programs and other university components
  • Manage assessment data collection and coordinate with Program Directors for periodic reports
  • Support the PSM Program coordinator with outreach activities and others as required.

Responsibilities – Non-Essential Functions:

  • Support and coordinate with PSM Program Coordinator to manage and respond to inquiries from current and potential students.
  • Provide help with PSM social media and other events as per requirements from the PSM Program Coordinator.
