Position Title: Full-time, 12-Month, Affiliate Faculty Position in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at the Traverse City Regional Center.
Summary: Grand Valley State University’s (GVSU) Masters in Physician Assistant Studies program (MPAS) welcomes applications for a full-time, Affiliate faculty position at their Traverse City Regional Center location. This full-time Affiliate faculty position will work with members of the Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) faculty, particularly those in Traverse City, to advance the education of PAS students. This position will require didactic lecture, laboratory, and small group teaching along with clinical course responsibilities.

Required Qualifications and Education:
- Applicant must be an NCCPA-certified physician assistant with a minimum of a Master’s degree (PA degree focus) or a board-certified (ABMS or AOA) physician. Applicants must be eligible for a Michigan license.
- Documented record of professional and/or academic achievement.
- Have at least three (3) years of clinical experience.
- Demonstrate leadership and motivational skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Possess requisite knowledge of technology used in an academic setting (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Possess a strong commitment to the mission and goals of the university, college, and Department/Program.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- Doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., DMSc, DHSc, EdD, M.D., D.O., PhD).
- Two (2) years of academic experience or health-related teaching.
- Ability to facilitate active learning and integrate educational technology into teaching.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Educational/Teaching
- Provide lectures, labs, and other educational sessions to students as assigned.
- Develop appropriate teaching materials to include written, audiovisual, computer, and self-instruction materials.
- Supervise and instruct students in didactic and/or clinical settings.
- When appropriate, assist with the recruitment of adjunct didactic faculty.
- Evaluate student didactic and/or clinical performance in accordance with established program learning outcomes, competencies, instructional objectives, and performance standards.
- Provide academic advising to students to ensure satisfactory progression in achieving PAS program competencies.
Administrative
- Assist the Program Director/Department Chair as needed
- Assist with Departmental/Program evaluation and ongoing self-assessment
- Participate in the assessment of instructional faculty who serve as adjuncts, independent contractors, supervised clinical practice experience preceptors, and hospital community experience preceptors.
- Recruit and enlist the support and active participation of instructional faculty to serve as supervised clinical practice experience preceptors (MD, DO, PA, NP, etc.) and clinical sites to deliver the clinical education of PA students.
Service
- Engage in interdepartmental activities, which promote the interest of the Program.
- Attend Departmental/Program faculty/staff/committee meetings, as available.
- Attend and participate in assigned Departmental/Program, school, and university/college committee activities, as available.
- Attend and participate in Department/Program at university/college and other organizational academic and/or social functions as available.
- Attend meetings of professional organizations and/or societies, as available.
- Engage in community educational activities to promote the PA profession, to encourage increased utilization of PAs, and to recruit potential PA students.
Remain current in the practice of medicine.
Scholarly Activity
- Promote scholarly inquiry in students as they matriculate in the program.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
