SUMMARY
This position will represent GVSU to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process in the metro Chicago, IL area. This position will manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, and admissions and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield. This is a 12-Month Adjunct AP position.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Represent Grand Valley State University in Chicago, Illinois to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process
- Conduct admissions recruitment primarily by in-person appointments, small and large group presentations, virtual sessions, phone calls and emails
- Initiate and maintain relationships with students, families, and staff at high schools, and community organizations with a special focus in the Metro Chicago territory
- Manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, admission and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield
- Counsel prospective students, families, stakeholders, and influencers about the admissions recruitment process, GVSU academic programs, student support, outcomes, and the GVSU brand
- Travel to high schools, college fairs, and other recruitment events
- Review materials submitted by applicants for the purposes of making admission decisions
- Evening and weekend hours required, especially during fall and spring recruitment seasons
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience in customer service, education, sales, or related field/position
- Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, as part of a team, and a strong commitment to working with diverse populations

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- College/university admissions experience or experience working with middle school or high school audiences
- Bi-Lingual Fluency (English/Spanish)
- Live in greater Chicago area or will move there shortly after hire
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend work required throughout the year.
- Admissions recruitment occurs primarily by in-person appointments, but also by small group presentations, zoom appointments, phone calls and emails.

Campus: Remote. Position will have to visit the Allendale campus for occasional yield activities.
