Summary:  The Biology Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is seeking applications for four full-time, one academic year (approximately 9 month) teaching positions, renewable for up to three years.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Masters degree or higher in a relevant field in Biology
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to experiential and high-impact teaching practices.
  • Experience in or demonstrated understanding of social justice education and/or initiatives, and/or inclusion, diversity, and/or intercultural training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to teach in both face-to-face and online environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting diversity among students, faculty, and communities.

Responsibilities - Essential Functions:

  • Teach 12 credits each semester
  • Ability to teach at least two of the following courses:   
    • BIO 105 – Environmental Science
    • BIO 120 – General Biology I (Cellular Biology and Genetics)
    • BIO 355 – Human Genetics
    • BIO 375 – Genetics
    • BIO 376 – Genetics Lab
    • BIO 328 – Environmental Science
    • BIO 325 – Human Sexuality
    • NRM 250 – Resource Measurement and Maps
    • NRM 395 – GIS Applications in Resource Management
    • NRM 450 – Applied Spatial Analysis in Natural Resources
  • other courses are possible depending on the expertise of the successful candidate. 

Salary:  $40,000 plus benefits
